I stopped counting...
...when I reached 100. And this was the 100th one. I continue to be stunned at the number of WalMart trucks and the number of really bad radio stations across this country.
Dr. Drew, thanks! In early November Seattle was one of the cities where the FCC actually held hearings about this topic. Opposition was strong and fierce here. Unfortunately, I don't think the level of dialog was helpful. I don't believe the hearings (at least the one in Seattle) were set up to enable rational discourse. Certainly the FCC commissioners understood there was opposition here though.
The media (and music publishers) are scrambling to figure out how to compete, and I don't think they are looking at the situation from any perspective but greed. The Internet has surely turned them into rats in a basket. I'm reminded, once again, of Anderson's "Long Tail." It's something I think about frequently.

Don't you fret, young lady! Soon you'll be able to return to the cozy confines of your very own Sam's Club.
You are still coming back, right?
I'm never shopping at Sam's Club, and I'm never coming back (except to pick up my dog).
;-)
(I'm pretty serious about the Sam's Club bit though)
Wal-Mart and bad radio evoke the same wonderment. Just think, a whole lot of people ... a WHOLE LOT of people ... are buying that junk.
PS: Did you know that this program puts comment identities in lower case not matter how they are entered?
Oh lighten up you guys! If we didn't have Wal-Mart and Sam's Clubs, all those people would be shopping where YOU do. (Or at Lester's Diner at 2 a.m.)
Hey, is that a ham in there?
So, are you done?
Thanks for your comment.
You'll be able to hear even more identical radio stations now thanks to the FCC. Check this out!
